About the Role

The School of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience at the University of Bristol is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Physiology. This teaching-focussed role will contribute to the delivery of teaching and assessment on the BSc and MSci undergraduate degrees as well as the medical, dental and veterinary programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver teaching and assessment activities for undergraduate students in the general area of physiology, and supervise third year research projects.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support for students, and take on administrative duties related to teaching.
  • Join an enthusiastic and dynamic group of teaching-focussed academics who are actively engaged in pedagogic research and in teaching and learning communities within Bristol and nationwide.
  • Interact with other academic colleagues within and across subject areas and with external partners.
  • Be committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Requirements

  • Experience of high-quality teaching and teaching innovation at undergraduate level in an area of physiology (specifically renal, cardiovascular, respiratory, reproductive, gastrointestinal and/or exercise physiology), including lectures, tutorials, laboratory classes and assessment.
  • An enthusiastic educator with an ability to stimulate and encourage the commitment to learn in others.
  • Commitment to enhancing the quality of teaching and the student experience.
  • Ability to contribute effectively to the management and delivery of undergraduate teaching, including supervising student dissertations.
