About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Glaucoma Consultant to join our dynamic team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Ophthalmology department, you will be responsible for providing expert care to patients with glaucoma, working closely with our existing glaucoma consultant and contributing to the development of our glaucoma service.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in glaucoma management and surgery, with the ability to offer expert opinion and surgical treatment options. You will also be expected to contribute to the smooth running of our specialist services, manage and lead our specialist unit, and supervise postgraduate research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert care to patients with glaucoma, including managing junior doctors and contributing to the development of our glaucoma service.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of our specialist services, including managing and leading our specialist unit.
  • Supervise postgraduate research and contribute to the development of our glaucoma service.
Person Specification
  • Entry on Specialist Register (or entry expected within 6 months)
  • FRCOphth or Equivalent
  • Ability to offer expert opinion in glaucoma management and offer surgical treatment options.
  • Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of specialist services.
  • Post CCT Fellowship in Glaucoma and/or ASTO in glaucoma.
  • Ability to manage and lead specialist unit, special surgery business unit, and working parties as appropriate.
  • Ability to supervise postgraduate research.
