About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious Clinical Research Doctor/Physician to join our Division of Surgery at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the general surgical on-call rota and undertake independent research supported by academic supervisors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct clinical research in upper GI and general surgery, as well as supporting relevant ongoing surgical trials.
  • Undertake independent research with academic supervisors, resulting in the application for award of an appropriate higher degree (MSc, MRes, MD).
  • Contribute to the general surgical on-call rota, with approximately 50% clinical and 50% research responsibilities.
Requirements
  • Previous general surgical experience.
  • Prior research experience is advantageous but not obligatory.
