Mondrian Alpha is seeking a skilled Research Data Analyst to contribute to our team's success. As a key member, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing large datasets to support our research activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Management: Set up and manage data trials and subscriptions for alternative datasets, ensuring seamless access for our research economists.
- Data Ingestion and Publication: Utilize Databricks and Dremio to ingest and publish datasets, maintaining high data quality standards.
- Data Quality Management: Develop and extend our data quality check library, monitoring vendor data quality to optimize performance.
- Data Analysis: Leverage Python, Jupyter, SQL, and Tableau to perform in-depth data analysis and drive insights.
- Dashboard and Visualization: Create informative dashboards and visualizations to support research activities and communicate findings effectively.
- Data Scouting: Identify new data sources, evaluate vendors, and provide expert feedback to our research team.
- Work Planning: Prioritize tasks according to company objectives, ensuring timely completion of projects.
- Status Reporting: Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Buy-Side Data Experience: A minimum of 3 years of data experience working for a buyside firm, with a strong understanding of data management and analysis.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in SQL and Python, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Data Management Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of data lifecycle management, including data consumption, storage, and retrieval.
- Proactive Learning: A willingness to learn and stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
- Communication Skills: Clear and concise communication style, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fast-Paced Environment: Experience working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Developer Collaboration: Experience collaborating with developers to integrate data solutions and drive innovation.
- Research Data Expertise: Experience working with alternative and macroeconomic research datasets, with a strong understanding of vendors such as Macrobond, Haver, and Bloomberg.
- Advanced Excel Skills: Proficiency in advanced Excel functionalities, with the ability to create complex models and analyses.
