Insurance Coverage and Litigation Attorney

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Coverage and Litigation Attorney to join our team at SSQ. As an Associate General Counsel, you will play a key role in providing strategic advice and managing claims-related litigation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive and high-quality coverage analyses, litigation and settlement strategies.
  • Offer strategic advice and manage claims-related litigation.
  • Provide comprehensive general legal advice to the complex and multi-jurisdictional Claims, including regulatory and claims vendor contracting matters.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the UK, US, Europe & Asia Claims teams.
  • Consistent and collaborative interactions with the Underwriting Legal and Policy Wordings teams.
  • Working closely with key stakeholders, in particular claims handlers and senior management.
  • Development of litigation management systems and processes in collaboration with other internal litigation units.
  • Reporting on significant case developments and litigation trends to senior management.
Requirements:
  • Track record of insurance coverage experience, including coverage litigation, arbitration and mediation gained at a top law firm.
  • Able to understand all facets of claims and apply that knowledge to the global claims.
  • Able to provide assistance with amending and drafting policy wordings from a legal perspective.
  • Ability to act independently as a number of the internal claims handler clients are based outside the UK.
