Join Our Emergency Response Team as an On-Call Firefighter

We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as On-Call Firefighters. As a vital part of our emergency response service, you will provide efficient and effective cover across the county, responding to fires, road traffic collisions, and a wide range of emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to emergency incidents, including fires and road traffic collisions
  • Provide emergency cover across the county, working in a team to ensure a swift and effective response
  • Develop your skills and work independently, with opportunities for career progression
  • Work well in a team, maintaining a calm and professional demeanor under pressure
Requirements:
  • Minimum 18 years old (no upper age limit)
  • Live or work within 5 to 8 minutes of a fire station in Suffolk
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and access to personal transport
  • Have a reasonable level of personal fitness
  • Have permission to be released from your main employment to attend emergency incidents
Benefits:
  • Annual salary (retainer fee) paid monthly, plus an hourly rate and disturbance fee for attending incidents

You will be based at one of our fire stations, including Brandon, Bury St Edmunds, Clare, Elmswell, Haverhill, Ixworth, Mildenhall, Newmarket, Stowmarket, Sudbury, and Wickhambrook.
