Senior Support Worker Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Support Worker to join our team at Field View Care Recruitment Solutions. As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and homely environment for young people to develop and understand their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the physical, intellectual, emotional, psychological, and social needs of our children are met consistently to a high standard.
  • Engage in probation, induction, supervision, staff meetings, learning and development, and appraisal.
  • Model professional conduct in all aspects of the role.
  • Work in partnership with social workers, education, police, health, probation, and all other professionals in line with children's needs and interests.
  • The Senior Support Worker will work on a shift pattern including days, evenings, waking nights (when/if required), weekends, bank holidays, sleeping-in duties, and, subject to risk assessment, lone working.
Requirements:
  • Must be willing and able to achieve or hold the NVQ Level 4 Diploma for Residential Childcare or an equivalent.
  • Knowledge and skills Senior Support Worker must hold minimum level 3 Qualification.
  • Worked in a Childcare setting (2 years minimum for Senior Support worker).
  • Full Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and 9 standards.
  • Working within Child Protection procedures & Safeguarding children procedures.
  • Understand impact of trauma on child development.
  • Direct work skills. Including handling conflict effectively.
  • Managing stress in self and others.
  • Good written and verbal communication and IT literacy.
  • Committed to achieving best outcomes for children.
  • Adaptive and solution focussed.
  • Parenting in a diverse community.
  • Able and willing to provide cover at other homes within reasonable distance as the needs of the children and the service requires.
  • Able to work required shift pattern – including sleeping-in.
