Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Maternity Support Worker to join our Antenatal and Newborn Screening team within Maternity Services at Northampton General Hospital.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and caring Maternity Support Worker to join our team. The role includes providing support with Fetal Medicine Clinics, BCG vaccine clinics, and Preterm Birth Clinics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake vital signs, urinalysis, and CO monitoring
  • Provide administrative support to the maternity team
  • Participate in tracking, obtaining, and filing clinical records
  • Update appropriate databases
  • Assist with the delivery of high-quality specialized care to mothers and their families
Requirements
  • Education to NVQ level or equivalent
  • GCSE Maths Grades A-C, Levels 4-9, Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent experience
  • Commit to undertake in-house training
  • Care certificate
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Foundation Degree Maternity Pathway
  • One year's formal maternity care experience in a hospital/birth center
  • Experience of using hospital patient record system
  • Experience of providing high-quality care
  • Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
Personal Qualities and Attributes
  • Approachable manner with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Understanding of the role and own professional boundaries
  • Able to identify when to escalate issues/concerns
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to liaise with colleagues in other disciplines
