Job Title: Data Governance Lead

Estimated salary: £110,000 - £170,000 per year

About the Role:

We are seeking an exceptional Data Governance Lead to join our forward-thinking Privacy Team at Trustpilot, Inc. in London.

This role will provide the opportunity to play a lead role across Trustpilot's data governance programme and to own and drive the solving of a range of challenging, diverse, and often ambiguous problems at the cutting edge of online trust, privacy, AI, and other technology-related legal issues.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and motivated individual who is comfortable owning complex projects and problems and can think creatively to identify and implement solutions with business stakeholders.

You will report to our Director of Privacy and work closely with various stakeholders across all levels and departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that our product, services, and data processing activities align with all key data governance requirements across all markets, focussing in particular on GDPR, the ePrivacy Directive, CCPA, and other emerging US and international laws;
  • Drive high-profile and high-impact multi-jurisdictional data-related initiatives across the business, supporting and advising key stakeholders on a broad range of data governance and AI-related legal issues and making pragmatic risk-based decisions as you balance business needs against the requirements of international law;
  • Monitor and evaluate proposed, pending, and new data-related legislation and recommend changes necessary to ensure compliance;
  • Draft and negotiate data governance provisions in a wide range of contracts, maintain and update policies and procedures relating to data governance, maintain records of processing activities, prepare DPIAs, LIAs, work on international data transfer assessments, and respond to data subjects on DSARs, erasure requests and other data subject rights requests;
  • Get stuck into AI Governance and help to build out Trustpilot's strategy around the use of AI as well as working closely with the teams developing AI;
  • Assist with investigating, assessing, and responding to any data incidents, including preparation of notices to affected data subjects and appropriate authorities;
  • Help operationalise data governance and introduce automated, scalable solutions to improve management of data tickets, data records, PIAs, and other data governance projects and processes;
  • Measure data governance maturity and compliance and report on key metrics and risk to senior stakeholders;
  • Prepare and deliver data governance & AI training and improve data governance & AI awareness throughout the organisation;
  • Respond to regulatory investigations and requests for information;

Requirements:

  • A right to practice law in either England & Wales, Scotland or Denmark;
  • Trained at a top law firm but with experience working in-house, ideally in the technology sector;
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about data governance, AI, and other technology-related legal issues;
  • A self-starter and motivated individual who is comfortable owning complex projects and problems and can think creatively to identify and implement solutions with business stakeholders;
  • Fluency in English.
