Overview

The Contracts and Settlements department plays a crucial role in supporting EDF Trading's commercial operations, ensuring that a vast array of transactions are managed efficiently with various counterparts.

This department serves as a vital facilitator for the commercial sector while implementing effective processes and controls to minimize operational risks and potential losses, whether financial or reputational.

Role Objectives

The main duties of this position include guaranteeing the prompt and precise entry of transactions into the Front Office Trading system, validating and authorizing trade modifications as requested by the commercial and Front Office teams. It is essential to maintain robust controls and procedures throughout the department to mitigate any arising issues and risks.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure trades are confirmed, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and escalate issues as necessary. Collaborate with traders and support teams to implement any required trade modifications, ensuring all changes are thoroughly reviewed and authorized. Oversee static and reference data management within the ETRM. Assist the Trade Control Supervisor with all Trade Novations, Compressions, and Terminations. Generate meaningful KPIs to assess performance and drive strategic and operational enhancements. Support the Trade Control Supervisor in preparing Monthly Statistics for presentation to the Executive Committee. Assess current operational workflows and monitor key controls, identifying and mitigating inherent risks while recognizing and implementing opportunities for process streamlining and automation. Ensure that all processes and procedures are consistently reviewed, documented, and updated.

Required Experience

Senior Analyst: ideally 3+ years of relevant experience. Previous experience in a Trade Control role (preferably in Gas, Power, and Emissions markets) or a Middle/Back office operations role (preferably in Gas, Power, and Emissions markets).

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of Operations within Energy Markets. Familiarity with trade lifecycle processes, including booking, amendments, contracts, and settlements. Demonstrated analytical abilities applicable in a dynamic and agile work environment. Experience with new system implementations and developments. Ability to adhere to procedures, identify issues, propose solutions, and follow up on resolutions. Intermediate or Advanced Excel skills are advantageous. Skills in automated process applications (such as Alteryx) are beneficial.

Candidate Profile

Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience. Driven by daily operational processes and the chance to enhance and refine these processes. Numerate with a keen attention to detail and the capability to maintain high accuracy standards. A collaborative team player who excels in building strong working relationships across all levels. Proactive and adaptable in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Fluent in English, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues, including senior management. Self-motivated, quick to learn, and possesses proven problem-solving skills with a curious mindset.

Working Hours:

8.30am – 5.30pm / 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
