Support Worker for Students with Speech and Language Needs

Key Details

This Speech and Language Teaching Assistant role is based at EDEX in Waltham Forest, making it easily accessible via public transport and offering plenty of parking on site.

In this role, you will be working closely with students who require additional support with their speech and language skills, using creative and imaginative ways to communicate and build rapport with them.

  • Main Tasks:
  • Providing support to students with speech and language needs on a 1:1 basis
  • Shadowing professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists
  • Working closely with SEN students including Non-Verbal, Pre-Verbal, and those who have limited communication
  • Using creative and imaginative ways to communicate and build rapport with students
  • Supporting the lead teacher with resources and basic behaviour management
  • Following set personalised plans to improve students' speech and language skills
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bright graduate with a 2:1 or 1st class degree
  • Strong GCSE and A-Level grades
  • Strong passion for working with students on their academia and mental health
  • Enthusiasm and creativity to inspire children with learning
  • The ability to write cogently and fluently with correct spelling and punctuation
  • Patience, kindness, flexibility, good humour, and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Professional attitude and approach to work
