Overview of the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled individual to join our team as a Forklift Engineer Trainee. This 4-year apprenticeship program will provide you with hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge to become a fully qualified Forklift Truck & Powered Access Engineer.

You will be working closely with our experienced engineers, gaining practical skills and understanding the principles of good customer service. Our comprehensive training program includes OEM partnerships and internal courses to ensure you have all the necessary tools to excel in your role.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Completing the 3-year apprenticeship qualification: Level 3 Lift Truck and Powered Access Engineering Technician Apprenticeship standard.
  • Gaining on-the-job experience, starting with shadowing your mentor and other Engineers, progressing to performing tasks under supervision, then alongside qualified Engineers where your work will be checked and signed off.
  • Working independently on independent on-the-job practical experience and undertaking further internal training to make the transition to become a fully-qualified Engineer upon successful completion of the programme.

Upon successful completion of the 4-year program, you will be considered for a permanent contract as a fully qualified Engineer with a salary expectation of £25,000 per year.

Requirements
  • 3 GCSEs at grade 4 / or Scottish National 5 Grade C or above in English, Science & Mathematics (or equivalent).
  • Enthusiasm for all aspects of engineering, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic - i.e., hobbies related to maintenance/repair, work or voluntary experience, topics studied at school/college.
  • Able to complete apprenticeship qualification tasks independently, managing and prioritising own workload, work to deadlines under pressure.
  • Understanding of the principles of good customer service.
