We are seeking a seasoned External Communications Strategist to join our team at A&O Shearman. As a key member of our global communications function, you will play a critical role in advancing our firm's strategic goals through effective external communications.

Job Description

This is a dynamic opportunity for an experienced professional relations and public relations expert to develop and execute strategic communication plans that drive business objectives and enhance our firm's reputation. You will be responsible for positioning our firm as a leader in the legal field, enhancing its reputation, and driving positive media coverage and public perception.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with our firm's business objectives and elevate its reputation
  • Develop and execute media outreach strategies to enhance our firm's visibility and thought leadership within the legal and business communities
  • Craft high-quality press releases, media statements, website postings, and other external communication materials that reflect our firm's brand voice and strategic messaging
  • Lead and oversee external communications campaigns from conception through execution and evaluation
  • Maintain and enhance our firm's brand image across all external platforms
  • Provide counsel and support to ensure effective communication strategies are in place for high-profile matters

About Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a seasoned professional with extensive experience in external communications, media relations, and public relations within professional services, preferably in a legal or similarly complex sector. Your expertise should include developing and executing strategic communication plans that drive business objectives and enhance organizational reputation.

The ideal candidate will have proven ability to craft compelling content and manage high-stakes media interactions, excellent relationship-building skills, and strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making. You should also possess exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and a strategic mindset.

A minimum salary of $120,000 per year is expected for this position, considering the location and industry standards. Benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, will be provided in accordance with company policies.
