Wastewater Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Advisor to join our team at Wessex Water.
The successful candidate will provide technical and analytical support to the Regulatory Flow team, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide analytical support to the Regulatory Flow team, enabling identification of trends in performance and compliance.
- Monitor and assess changes in relevant environmental regulations, guidance, and codes of practice, and communicate implications for Wessex Water.
- Represent Wessex Water to professional, industry, or regulatory bodies, sharing information and best practices, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Establish, maintain, and communicate policies and quality management systems to ensure compliance with environmental quality objectives and regulatory outputs.
- Advise and support Area Scientists and Area Operational teams in achieving required standards, handling significant incidents, and liaising with regulators.
- Liaise with Engineering and Operations on capital schemes.
- Plan and manage the MCERTS certification programme, identifying upcoming sites and booking site inspections.
- Assist with collating and reporting compliance with statutory quality regulations for internal and external contacts.
Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent in a science or STEM subject.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant environmental regulation, including EPR legislation, EPA, the Water Industry Act, UWWTR, etc.
- Detailed knowledge of wastewater treatment processes.
- At least five years' experience in a relevant field, with a proven record and experience in managing a team.
- Understanding of structure and implementation of quality management systems.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Decision-making skills.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Suite.
- Detailed knowledge of wastewater processes.
- Ability to represent Wessex Water to industry and professional bodies.
- Good report writing and presentation skills.
- Working knowledge of budget control and finance principles.
