Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEND) to thrive and succeed in a primary school setting?

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work within mainstream primary schools in Hull. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support students with additional needs and challenging behavior both 1:1 and in small groups across the classroom and school as a whole.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adapt teaching style to meet students' individual needs
  • Prepare learning materials for lesson plans
  • Support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
  • Work alongside the classroom teacher to ensure a smooth-running learning environment
  • Collaborate with professionals such as speech and language therapists
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and guardians to ensure the best care for pupils
  • Build strong, professional relationships with students and colleagues

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting students with additional needs, including ADHD, Autism, and challenging behavior
  • Familiarity with supporting young people on the autism spectrum
  • Knowledge of special education practices and strategies
  • Ability to collaborate with lead teachers and other staff to develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs)
  • Previous experience working in a primary school setting
  • A minimum of 6 months of UK experience
