Job Description

The Energy Efficiency Engineer is a key member of our team at MSC Cruises, responsible for delivering technical analysis and understanding of initiatives to support energy efficiency improvements. Working closely with ship staff and shore-based stakeholders, you will develop an accurate understanding of the current energy baseline and advise on effective changes required to reduce fuel consumption and improve energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and manage projects related to energy efficiency across our fleet, focusing on hotel energy management.
  • Collaborate with the Energy Efficiency Department to select the best technological solutions for renewable energy sources, both onboard ships and in terminals.
  • Advise and lead necessary changes in operation to enhance fuel consumption performance and energy efficiency.
  • Assist in planning, preparation, and project management for hotel energy management, establishing an energy consumption baseline.
  • Use this baseline and analytical tools to identify and implement energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Cooperate with other departments to monitor, analyze, and report on fleet performance related to fuel consumption optimization.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Fluent English, verbal and written; additional languages are an asset.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Energy Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience as an Energy Engineer, preferably in the maritime sector.
  • Knowledge of medium and low voltage electricity generation and regulation systems, as well as energy storage systems.
  • Familiarity with converters, control drivers, shore connection plants, and reference standards for the maritime/port sector.
  • Understanding of Flag State, USCG, and IMO rules and regulations related to energy efficiency and carbon consumption.
  • Experience in analytics for technical decision-making and budget management for technical project delivery.

Salary:
We offer a competitive salary range of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Location:
This role is based in the UK, with the possibility of occasional travel to our cruise liners and shore-based facilities.
