Plant/Soil Microbial Ecologist

The Imperial College London is seeking a highly skilled microbial ecologist to pioneer a novel approach to controlling one of the world's most devastating crop diseases, take-all disease in wheat. This project aims to develop sustainable, microbial solutions by manipulating soil microbiomes to suppress the pathogen Gaeumannomyces tritici.
As part of a multidisciplinary collaboration, you will design and execute experiments to explore ways to optimize soil microbiomes for promoting wheat growth and suppressing resistance to G. tritici. This will involve working in climate-controlled growth facilities and collaborating with a team of researchers from diverse backgrounds.
You will be responsible for communicating your research findings through conference presentations and scientific publications, as well as connecting with farmers and local stakeholders.
