The Department of Politics and International Relations welcomes applications for a Postdoctoral Research position. This is a full-time, 3-year position that will be based in the Department of Politics and IR, a world-renowned institution with internationally-recognised strengths in Comparative Politics, Political Theory, and International Relations.

We are seeking a highly motivated computational social scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will spend a year at the London School of Economics Data Science Institute (LSE DSI) where they can avail of training and library resources, and be embedded into the LSE DSI industry networks and academic community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the PI and Opinium to trial and test gamification in mass surveys and conduct statistical and experimental analyses;
  • Assist with data architecture and infrastructure, including collecting, cleaning, and organizing large datasets on economic inequality and social networks;
  • Co-author academic and non-academic outputs from the project;
  • Pursue an exciting research agenda in political behaviour, political economy, and/or survey methodology;

Requirements:
  • A PhD in Political Science, Data Science, Economics, or a related field;
  • Advanced knowledge of R and experience using it;
  • An ambitious and innovative research agenda;
  • Strong expertise in quantitative and computational methods.

This is a full-time, temporary post (36 months), tenable soon after interview.
