Housing Management Officer Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Housing Management Officer to join our team at Hestia. As a key member of our Housing Services Department, you will be responsible for managing an allocated patch of properties, ensuring the health and safety of the property, maintenance, and voids control are in line with our policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage an allocated patch of properties for housing management functions.
  • E nsure the housing management functions of health and safety of the property, maintenance, and voids control are kept according to policy.
  • Manage service users' rent/charges collection, arrears avoidance control, debt management.
  • Liaise with partner Registered Providers, ensuring adherence to Management Agreements.
  • Agreement sign-ups and exit meetings with service users.
  • Manage service users' DWP, Revenue and Benefits.
  • Work with the Rents team to ensure new service users have their rent accounts established.
  • Support new service users to apply for welfare benefits, including housing benefit and establish personal charge payments.
  • Undertake any necessary legal action, including leading on the pre-action protocol.
  • Provide weekly/monthly/quarterly performance reports to your line Manager.
  • Undertake daily/weekly/monthly building health and safety.
  • Oversee and follow up on any repairs reported by staff and service users.
  • Ensure that any repairs are actioned within the relevant timescales, keeping service users and support staff aware of progress and maintain records.
  • Work in partnership with support workers, Local Authorities, and referrers.
  • Maintain the safety and security of the building, including leading on the completion of property risk assessments.
  • Work with the support workers to develop a psychologically informed environment.
  • Develop supportive and positive relationships with service users and colleagues.
