About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Network Rail as a Section Supervisor Track: Asset Maintenance and Renewal. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of asset maintenance and renewal work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and check the quality of work delivered to ensure assets are compliant with standards.
  • Carry out work safely and in accordance with safe systems of work procedures, method statements, and other instructions.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety, quality, and environmental management.
  • Undertake specific inspections in accordance with standards as directed.
  • Prioritize work arising and manage resources effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare work and resource specifications, method statements, and safe systems of work plans.
  • Assist in the development of work plans that enable work to be delivered safely, efficiently, and compliant with standards.
  • Assist in the identification and proposal of asset renewals.
  • Assist in the allocation of resources and manage staff as directed.
  • Deliver work in accordance with relevant maintenance plans and provide information to update systems, databases, and records.
  • Undertake a program of staff surveillance, work quality, compliance, and asset condition checks as directed.
  • Assist in the management, control, and discipline of staff as directed.
  • Assist in the monitoring and review of staff competence and welfare.
  • Contribute to your own development and that of others.

Requirements

  • Experience of directing and supervising worksites and the safe and efficient delivery of work.
  • Knowledge of resource and work organization/planning processes and systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of rail testing and lubrication inspection, maintenance, renewal, and asset condition assessment techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures, and instructions.
  • Awareness of cost and waste control techniques.
  • Able to demonstrate, promote, and embed safe working behaviors within the team.
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Able to coach, influence, and develop others.
  • Hold and retain competencies relevant to this post and required by business need.
  • Ideal NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained the appropriate level of knowledge gained through equivalent relevant experience.
  • Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.
