Job Description

Astute People is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Lead to join our team in a Engineering Director role. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Power team in a partnership with Rothes CoRDe to recruit a Biomass Combined Heat & Power (CHP) Station in Scotland.

The plant processes around 130,000 tons of biomass annually, generating over 7MW of electricity for the grid, sufficient to power 9,000 homes.

The Senior Technical Lead position offers a salary of up to £67,000, along with a Pension plan, relocation support (if necessary), and additional benefits.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Reporting to the Plant Manager
  • Developing, managing, and executing expansion projects at the plant
  • Providing technical assistance to the operations and maintenance teams, including troubleshooting complex issues
  • Leading IT systems (including servers), SCADA, network, and EC&I support on-site
  • Creating and implementing operational enhancement projects
  • Supervising ongoing CapEx projects at the station and identifying areas for further development/improvement
  • Being available for emergency support and plant issues outside regular hours
Professional Qualifications:
  • Ideally, an HNC or higher in a relevant engineering field, preference for electrical/controls & instrumentation expertise
  • An IOSH or NEBOSH qualification would be beneficial
Personal Skills, Experience, and Knowledge:
  • Experience in power generation sectors like Biomass, CHP, Energy from Waste, Coal, CCGT, etc.
  • Project management background in plant upgrades
  • Financial management experience and staff training and development
  • Supervisory/management exposure in power generation or waste industries
Salary and Benefits:
  • Base salary up to £67,000
  • Potential relocation support on a case-by-case basis
  • Impressive pension scheme (13%, minimum 3% EE and 10% ER)
