Job Title: Senior Product Compliance Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Compliance Specialist to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our products throughout the design and development process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend and report to daily stand-up meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration with the team.
  • Design and implement safety activities, including risk reduction and analysis, to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Apply a systems engineering approach to safety products, working within a centralized modeling tool to ensure effective safety outcomes.
  • Support and mentor non-safety experienced team members to achieve desirable safety outcomes.
  • Prepare and present safety assessments and design safety justification to support system design and development.
  • Provide safety expertise to product design and gate reviews, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a healthy product safety culture within the team and wider business.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with UK Defence Standards and publications, including Defence Standard 00-56 and Defence Standard 00-55.
  • Knowledge of safety analysis techniques, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and System Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA).
  • STEM degree and experience in product safety within a regulated industry.
  • Understanding of the principles and requirements of IEC 61508 and/or IEC 61511 for complex software and hardware safety instrumented systems.
