About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Technical Care Instructor to join our team at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in a community setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Patient Safety: Maintain a safe environment for patients, adhering to Trust policies and procedures.
  • Promote Best Practice: Actively promote evidence-based care, ensuring all care is delivered in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Work with Service Users: Collaborate with patients and their families to promote independence, improve existing skills, and acquire new ones, while maintaining dignity.
  • Participate in Audits: Contribute to audits of practice, research, and clinical effectiveness, as per the Divisional audit plan.
  • Support Nursing and Therapy Procedures: Assist qualified and non-qualified nursing, therapy, and social work staff in the safe management of patient care.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Ensure accurate and contemporaneous records, clear, concise, and legible.
  • Assess and Manage Risk: Actively assess and manage risk within the immediate area, in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Prevent and Control Infection: Develop the skills and knowledge necessary to prevent and control infection.
  • Work as a Team Member: Collaborate with colleagues, working as both a team member and without direct supervision, where appropriate.
  • Commit to Personal Education: Show commitment to personal education and professional development, promoting a culture of lifelong learning.
  • Safeguard Confidentiality: Safeguard confidentiality of information relating to patients and staff at all times.
  • Behave in a Manner Ensuring Security: Behave in a manner that ensures the security of NHS property and resources.
Technical Care Instructor - Community Based
  • Undertake Personal Care Tasks: Perform personal care tasks, including personal hygiene, dressing/undressing, helping with movement, and assisting with personal appearance.
  • Carry Out Personal Exercise Programme: Carry out personal exercise programmes as directed by professionals.
  • Be Professionally Responsible: Be professionally responsible for adherence to and abide by Trust policies and procedures.
  • Assist Service Users with Medication: Assist service users in taking/using medication.
  • Work with Service Users in Different Settings: Work with service users in settings other than their own homes, as required by the care plan.
  • Be Aware of and Respond to Emotional Needs: Be aware of and respond to individuals' and carers' emotional needs, supporting people in distress.
  • Undertake Practical Tasks: Undertake practical tasks, including preparing meals, shopping, and signposting or supporting with budgeting, as required.
Requirements
  • Ability to Travel: Ability to travel to various locations in Tameside and Glossop.
  • Qualifications: General education completed, educated to NVQ level 3, manual handling, basic life support, safeguarding children, and safeguarding adults.
  • Experience: Previous experience of working in a multidisciplinary team, experience of providing direct care to individuals, and experience of working in a community care environment.
