About Riverlane

Riverlane is a company that aims to make quantum computing useful, sooner. Our mission is to leverage the power of quantum computers to solve complex challenges in various fields, including material science and chemistry simulation for drug design and discovery.

We are building the quantum error correction stack to make this happen. Our team is composed of experts in software and hardware development, quantum information theory, physics, and maths, from over 20 different nationalities.

Graduate Recruitment Scheme

Riverlane's Graduate Recruitment Scheme is designed to enable recent graduates with degrees in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Physics, or Maths to develop their skills and expertise in quantum computing.

As a trainee on our Graduate Scheme, you will join us as a permanent employee at our Head Office in Cambridge, UK, where you will work alongside our world-class multidisciplinary team. During your first 12 months, you will rotate through different functions of Riverlane, including Engineering, Quantum Science, and Product, giving you exposure and hands-on experience across different areas of the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create cutting-edge software to leverage maximum potential from current quantum computers
  • Contribute to the design process, development, and implementation of advanced software and hardware tools for quantum computing
  • Gain experience in the full lifecycle of product development, from maintaining and improving existing systems to devising novel solutions
  • Learn to test complex products operating at the cutting edge of technology
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary environment of Scientists and Engineers, leveraging your knowledge and experience to create novel solutions
Requirements
  • Be in your final year of your Bachelor's or Master's Degree in one of the following subjects: Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Physics, Maths (or another closely related technical field)
  • Be graduating next year (2025), or have graduated this year (2024), with at least a 2.1
  • Be able to evidence creative, high-quality academic work
  • Have experience with at least one general-purpose programming language
  • Have excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a track record of effectively communicating scientific results to colleagues/peers and other audiences
  • Have the ability to take initiative, demonstrate proactivity, and work well as part of a team
  • Have a passion for translating academic expertise into an applied industrial setting
  • Have a strong desire to learn and develop
