The Department for Business and Trade is seeking a highly skilled policy specialist to join its team. As a key member of the Business Finance team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the UK's access to finance policy, working closely with the British Business Bank and other stakeholders to deliver the Government's objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert advice to Ministers and senior officials on access to finance policy, ensuring that the Department's objectives are met and that the UK's business finance ecosystem is supported.
- Work closely with the British Business Bank to develop and deliver access to finance programmes, ensuring that they are effective and meet the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
- Lead on policy development, analysis, and evaluation, using your expertise to identify opportunities for improvement and develop recommendations for Ministers.
- Collaborate with other teams within the Department and across Government to ensure that policy is aligned and effective.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the British Business Bank, HM Treasury, and other delivery partners.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify complex issues and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and persuade others.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple deadlines.
- Strong understanding of access to finance policy and the UK's business finance ecosystem.
- Experience of working in a policy role, with a strong understanding of the policy-making process.
