About the Role
As a Special Constable with Derbyshire Constabulary, you will have the opportunity to work alongside regular police officers, bringing your skills and experiences from your day job to give something back to your local community.
You will be a volunteer Police Officer with the same powers as regular officers, typically spending around four hours a week, or more, working alongside and supporting regular officers to play a pivotal role in helping police your community.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out high-visibility foot patrols to deter and detect criminals.
- Providing education and awareness to businesses and the community about crime and how to avoid it.
- Talking to schoolchildren about crime reduction and community safety.
- Confronting anti-social behaviour on the streets.
- Managing alcohol-related incidents.
- Imposing road safety laws.
- Conducting house-to-house enquiries.
- Taking part in police operations.
Requirements
- Be 17 1⁄2 years old on application and 18 years old on appointment.
- Be a UK Citizen, EU Citizen with EU Settled Status, a Commonwealth Citizen or Foreign National with no restrictions on your stay in the United Kingdom.
- Be in good health and of good character.
