Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a dynamic and inclusive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver targeted support to enhance students' emotional well-being and academic performance through individualized or small group interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement personalized education plans that cater to the unique needs of students with mental health requirements.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to teachers and adjusting support strategies as necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding and privacy guidelines to ensure a safe and secure learning environment.
  • Support classroom management and address the specific needs of students, promoting a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
Requirements
  • GCSEs or equivalent in Mathematics, demonstrating a strong foundation in numeracy and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in an educational or mental health setting, working with children, adolescents, or adults, showcasing your ability to connect with students and work effectively with staff.
  • Strong understanding of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma, enabling you to provide empathetic and informed support.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect with students and work collaboratively with staff to achieve shared goals.
  • Ability to remain composed in challenging situations, providing constructive support and maintaining a calm demeanor.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and best practices in SEMH support, ensuring you stay up-to-date with the latest research and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, with a readiness to address concerns effectively and maintain a safe learning environment.
