Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Respiratory and Acute Medicine to join our team at University Hospital Lewisham. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading ward rounds, and directing the management of patients on the Acute Medical Unit.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide direct clinical care on the Acute Medical Unit, ACU, and SDEC.
  • Lead ward rounds and direct the management of patients.
  • Assess patients and perform practical procedures while teaching other staff.
  • Attend MDT meetings and participate in educational and audit meetings.
  • Meet CPD and revalidation requirements.
  • Provide cover for Consultant colleagues during periods of leave.
  • Support the Hospital's Clinical Governance Strategy.
Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • Full registration with the GMC and hold a license to practice MRCP (UK) or equivalent.
  • To be on the GMC Specialist Register for Acute or General (Internal) Medicine or within six months of obtaining CCT on a UK training program or CESR at the time of interview.
  • Distinctions, scholarships, prizes.
  • Other degrees, e.g., BSc, MSc, MD.

Working Arrangements

The post is full-time, and the successful candidate will be expected to work a standard 37.5-hour week. The salary for this post is £105,504 to £139,882 per annum, depending on experience. The post also includes 10 PAs, which will be allocated according to the job plan.
