The Role

As a Technical Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting our food safety and quality assurance initiatives. You'll work closely with our Technical Manager to implement and monitor food safety standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of food safety and quality assurance systems.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain food safety and quality management systems.
  2. Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to food safety standards and best practices.
  3. Conduct regular inspections and audits of production facilities and equipment.
  4. Collaborate with production teams to identify and address potential food safety issues.
  5. Support the training and education of staff on food safety and quality protocols.
  6. Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, and compliance activities.
  7. Participate in incident investigations and corrective action planning.
  8. Assist in the preparation and review of food safety documentation and reports.
  9. Stay current with industry regulations and best practices to ensure company compliance.
  10. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety and quality.

Requirements

  • Degree in Food Science / Technology or related subject.
  • Proven experience of working within a Food manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in a food safety or quality assurance role preferred.
  • Working knowledge of BRC Global Standards for food safety and associated technical systems and accreditations would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Food safety management procedures (HACCP) and best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
