As an Electrical and Instrumentation Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that E&I systems are maintained in accordance with the ISP Written Scheme of Verification;
  • Participating in HSE activities, such as toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety meetings;
  • Performing annual testing of the fire and gas system and emergency shut-down system to the satisfaction of the certifying authority;
  • Becoming familiar with ISP E&I control systems, equipment, and manuals;
  • Providing technical support and assistance in the case of an emergency;
  • Identifying potential risks and opportunities for improvement within the E&I systems;
  • Assessing the impact of HSE safety notices on the ISP and advising accordingly;
  • Reviewing and risk-assessing all E&I modifications;
  • Maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures;
  • Supporting Operational Risk Assessment against E&I-related Performance Standards equipment;
  • Developing in-house engineering solutions for E&I control systems modifications;
  • Developing and supervising third-party work scopes in a safe and timely manner;
  • Upkeeping shore-based documentation, manuals, and electronic files and databases;
  • Collating data and revising asset drawings to as-built standard;
  • Ensuring associated E&I engineering changes are registered, controlled, and carried out in compliance with appropriate authorities, procedures, and safe working practices;
  • Updating associated E&I engineering records, reports, databases, and filing systems;
  • Mobilizing specialist vendors for annual assurance activities in accordance with certifying authority requirements;
  • Identifying non-conformances in the operation of ISP control systems;
  • Assessing the impact of third-party electrical equipment on the ISP;
  • Liaising with third-party and specialist vendors;
  • Liaising with ISP operations on a daily/weekly basis;
  • Familiarity with IEC and BS relevant standards;
  • Awareness of permit to work systems, STOP/START, and Synergi;
  • Experience with fully automated machinery and electronically controlled systems;
  • Dock yard or fabrication yard experience;
  • Experience with operation of jack-up vessels and associated power management and F&G systems;

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Instrument Engineering or related field;
  • Relevant years' experience in the offshore industry as an E&I Engineer or related role;
  • Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training course and OGUK medical;
  • Knowledge and understanding of appropriate standards, emergency response systems, and philosophies;
  • Knowledge of fire and gas systems, IEC legislation, and BS;
  • Understanding of safety-related ESD/F&G systems, electrically certified equipment in hazardous areas, and Written Scheme of Verification assurance activities;
  • PC proficiency in 'Word', 'Excel', and 'Microsoft Project';
  • Permit to work system awareness, STOP/START, and Synergi awareness;
  • Experience with fully automated machinery and electronically controlled systems;
  • Dock yard or fabrication yard experience;
  • Experience with operation of jack-up vessels and associated power management and F&G systems;

Petrofac offers a competitive salary package, which includes a base salary of approximately £70000 per annum, plus benefits such as health insurance, pension plan, and generous annual leave entitlement. We also offer opportunities for professional development and career progression.
