Job Title: Project Cost Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Cost Engineer to join our team at Turner & Townsend. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will be responsible for coordinating funding requests, managing project controls, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and project contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the project team to ensure accurate and timely funding requests
  • Manage project controls stage-gate documentation for internal governance and funding decisions
  • Engage with stakeholders to support stage-gate documentation
  • Proactively advise on updates to stage-gate documentation, including delivery blockers and potential delays
  • Create and update project data collection forms upon stage-gate funding approvals
  • Raise purchase requisitions and respond to worklist arising from invoices submitted
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and project contract requirements
  • Implement and maintain cost control systems and procedures to track project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts
  • Provide proactive communication to ensure project delivery managers are apprised of trends on the project
  • Work with other team members to establish and implement quality assurance measures for project controls tasks and deliverables
  • Identify trends and root causes of deviations against the baseline using lead and lag indicators, recommend remedial actions to drive best value for the client
  • Assist with assessment of spend and the impact of delays and opportunities against the yearly capital budget
  • Create and/or work within a portfolio of cost reports, summarizing financials in an executive-level dashboard
  • Understand change management principles, review and processing of change controls, including amending purchase orders
  • Review proposed key performance indicators for cost, spend, and budget management
  • Ensure timely and accurate cost checking and valuation process
  • Map plant and facility assets from the facilities investment plan against the project ladder

Requirements:

  • Experience in delivering controls in a major project or programme environment or large portfolios
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management
  • Experience operating at various stages in the project lifecycle
  • Proficient in MS Office (all packages) and good experience and skills in proof-reading, collating documents, including formatting and sense-checking
  • Knowledge of project financial and cost management systems, with SAP experience ideal but not compulsory
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness, including monitoring and coordination of budget
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong analytical ability
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with high personal motivation and energy
  • Demonstrated experience in determining corrective actions or recommendations based on facts and figures and critically evaluating information and data from various sources
  • High attention to detail and proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment and passion for delivering excellent service
  • Reliable with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet project deadlines as necessary
