About the Role:
At Elis, a leader in circular services, we're seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team. With a strong focus on hygiene and protection, our maintenance model supports customers in achieving optimal cleanliness while reducing their environmental footprint.

In this role, you'll report directly to the Senior Engineer/Engineering Manager on site and be accountable for completing work in a quality and timely manner. You'll provide support for all maintenance tasks and projects undertaken, including daily breakdowns, PPM, equipment updates, new installations, and building/infrastructure upgrades.

The position requires shift work across Monday to Saturday, rotating through three shifts (Days, Afternoons, Evenings).
  • To collaborate closely with the Engineer on the opposite shift to ensure seamless handover of ongoing activities each day, sharing information and practices as required.
  • To contribute knowledge and input into continuous improvement of plant, machinery, and maintenance activities. Work with the Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager to identify long-running problems and suitable solutions.
  • To ensure that as part of the Engineering team, we consistently aim to improve equipment performance, reliability, and running costs for replacement parts and consumables.
  • To undertake remedial engineering works to equipment or site as instructed by the Engineering Manager.
  • To communicate any risks of safety or failure of equipment or site to the Manager.
  • To work with the Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager to ensure that contractors are working safely on site and adhering to site Health and Safety rules and procedures.
  • To ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with Site Health and Safety instructions and the SSG Health and Safety manual, as well as relevant engineering standards.
  • To report any incidents, accidents, and near misses in accordance with Health and Safety Policies.
  • To maintain good housekeeping standards.
  • To ensure company assets are maintained to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • To foster excellent communication between Production staff and coworkers.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Possession of an Electrical Installation 18th Edition qualification.
  • Electrical Installation Maintenance expertise.
  • Mechanical Fabrication/Maintenance skills.
  • Electronic fault-finding capability to component level.
  • Relevant recognised qualification (e.g., mechanical or electrical C&G).
  • Proficiency in both Electrical and Mechanical trades: Apprenticeship with indentures preferred.
  • Familiarity with other engineering disciplines, including pneumatics, hydraulics, steam systems.
