Seven Resourcing is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Practitioner to join Somerset Council on an interim basis for 6 months.

The role involves working 37 hours per week, with hybrid working arrangements allowing for flexibility between working from home and the council office. Field work is expected to be approximately twice a week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate Statutory Nuisance complaints using standard procedures, record forms, and noise equipment as necessary.
  • Respond to Planning and Licensing consultations, including hearings.
  • Conduct Environmental Permit inspections and enforcement activities, including collecting evidence under PACE rules.
  • Liaise with colleagues in the Environmental Protection Team and other Somerset colleagues on policy and procedural matters.
Requirements
  • BSc (Hons) Environmental Health or MSc Environmental Health or equivalent qualification, or strong relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in Statutory Nuisance investigations, Planning and Licensing consultations, and Environmental Permitting inspections.
  • Excellent communication skills for negotiating with customers and liaising with colleagues.
  • Able to balance reactive and proactive work simultaneously.
