Film Officer Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Film Officer to join our team at Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting the use of Council land for filming, liaising with production companies, and coordinating enquiries.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Act as a hub for film production enquiries on Council land.
  • Market the County Borough for filming opportunities and develop an online library of venues.
  • Negotiate land hire terms, including fees, and issue relevant agreements to production companies.
  • Facilitate filming across the county borough by liaising with Council departments.
  • Liaise with relevant departments to facilitate services such as licences, permissions, and road closures.
  • Maximise commercial and economic cultural opportunities of film production for local, regional, national, and international film companies.
  • Provide advice and support on the feasibility of filming requests.
  • Monitor filming permission and feed information into relevant Council departments.
  • Communicate with Commercial Marketing, Tourism, and Corporate Communications Teams to promote filming locations and activity.
  • Undertake continuous review and evaluation processes for filming permissions granted.
  • Develop close working relationships with commercial production companies, the local community, and key regional and national partners.

Requirements:

  • Broad understanding of the film industry and what is needed for a successful location shoot.
  • Experience of marketing products and services.
  • Experience of working in partnership to achieve common aims.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the newly established Leisure, Tourism, Heritage, and Culture department at Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and delivering a Film Office function for Neath and Port Talbot.
