About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Apprentice Podiatrist to join our team at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals. As a key member of our clinical team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in podiatry, working closely with our experienced clinicians and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of foot and ankle conditions
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, taking into account individual patient needs and goals
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care and coordination
  • Participate in clinical education and training, staying up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices and guidelines
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient outcomes
Requirements
  • BSc Degree in Podiatric Medicine or Diploma (if qualified prior to 1992)
  • Health Professions Council (HPC) registration
  • Certificate in local anaesthesia
  • Evidence or portfolio of post-graduate continued development
  • Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
  • Experience of working at a band 6 level or above in an acute hospital setting with a high risk caseload
  • Experience of working with a wide range of patient and disease/pathology types, including the at-risk and high-risk foot and neurovascular tests
  • Experience of acute and chronic at-risk wound care management
  • Understanding of the role of podiatry within the current evolving healthcare environment
  • Previous experience of junior staff & student supervision/clinical education
  • Evidence of presentation of own research/project work
Desirable Skills
  • Core skills in Podiatry, knowledge of acute foot conditions and wound management
  • Ability to undertake intricate work in using sensitive diagnostic tools and a range of surgical instruments
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NICE Diabetes guidelines and NSF in diabetes
  • Ability to work within Trust policies, including clinical governance, data protection, equal opportunities, and health and safety
