Housing - Enhancing Services for Residents
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our Housing Operations team as a Resident Engagement Officer.
The team works closely with the Housing Board and Housing Assurance Panel, as well as driving resident engagement efforts.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs a Resident Engagement Officer, you will play a key role in implementing the resident engagement strategy, engaging with and supporting tenants, encouraging their involvement to drive positive change in services.
This role requires flexibility, including occasional evening or weekend work for Area Board and Partnership events.
Our ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of resident engagement, community development, regulatory standards, and statutory frameworks related to resident engagement. You should possess exceptional communication skills, with proven ability to coordinate projects and meetings, and work efficiently under deadlines while maintaining high standards.
Key Responsibilities- To foster and enable effective resident and leaseholder participation, ensuring robust resident representation and accountability.
- To collaborate with the senior resident engagement officer to advance the Resident Engagement Strategy and housing service plan.
- To encourage and promote resident involvement in the Local Authority's decision-making process.
- To organize and prioritize your workload, offering recommendations and discussing complex issues with the senior resident engagement officer.
- To recruit, train, and monitor tenant volunteers involved in various functions, including the tenants' newsletter editorial panel.
- To implement the agreed resident engagement strategy, leveraging experience and expertise to innovate ways of engaging residents.
- To promote and support mechanisms for residents to participate in decision-making impacting their homes and communities.
- To manage relevant budgets related to resident involvement and verify expense claims.
- To prepare agendas and take minutes for all residents groups in your area, ensuring actions are documented.
- To participate in area board and partnership events, ensuring tenant perspectives are represented.
- To contribute to the production and editing of the Housing Department's quarterly housing magazine, ensuring content relevance and accuracy.
- To maximize tenant participation in your designated area by establishing new tenant and leaseholder groups.
- To ensure compliance with the tenants' regulatory framework and identify potential risks.
- To develop a yearly training program for residents to enhance engagement.
- To conduct consultations with residents and stakeholders, producing reports and recommending actions.
- To assist in writing the Housing Department's Annual Report and tenants satisfaction survey.
Qualifications
- HNC or equivalent experience/skills.
- ITQ 2 or equivalent skill and ability.
- Working towards relevant professional qualification.
- Proven experience of working with people, specifically of tenant participation and housing with a social landlord.
- Advanced knowledge of resident engagement, community development, and landlord and tenant legislation.
- High level of interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Excellent creativity skills and strong editorial/journalistic skills.
- Experience of co-ordinating and facilitating effective participation and engagement exercises.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet specific targets and deadlines.
- Enthusiasm, self-motivation, and the ability to motivate others.
- Project Management Skills.
- Chairing skills.
- Previous experience of producing written reports to a high standard.
£25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
