Nottingham, Nottingham, United Kingdom University of Nottingham Full time

At the University of Nottingham, we are seeking highly motivated and self-driven individuals to join our multidisciplinary team in developing innovative medical devices.

Salary: £31,387 to £36,924 per annum (pro rata if applicable)

Job Description:

Company Overview

The University of Nottingham is a world-leading research-intensive university committed to advancing knowledge and addressing real-world challenges. Our researchers collaborate with clinicians and industry partners to develop cutting-edge solutions for healthcare.

Project Background

Medical devices play a significant role in improving healthcare outcomes. However, implanted devices often fail due to adverse inflammatory responses, leading to increased morbidity, mortality, and hospital stays. Our project aims to address this challenge by developing a real-time monitoring approach to non-invasively observe the evolution of the body's response to implanted devices.

Role Responsibilities

  1. To work on the development of a wireless sensing approach using glucose sensors as a proof-of-concept.
  2. To contribute to the design and testing of implantable devices that minimize inflammation and infection.
  3. To collaborate with clinicians and researchers to translate research findings into clinical practice.

Required Skills and Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with a PhD (or close to completion) in bioelectronics, polymer chemistry, immunology, or related disciplines. Successful applicants must demonstrate strong motivation, self-drive, and excellent communication skills.

Benefits

This is a full-time post (36.25 hours) available immediately on a fixed-term contract until 30th September 2026. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and opportunities for professional development.

Others

Please note that these roles will be based at the University Park campus, and all applicants must meet the requirements for eligibility to work in the UK.
