Job Title: Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist - Hepatology

This is an exciting opportunity to work as one of two new positions in a new role to establish and deliver a robust surveillance pathway for Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) and manage patients with cirrhosis and viral hepatitis.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Running cirrhosis clinics, managing an identified caseload of patients
  • Leading the rollout and operation of a call/recall surveillance system for all patients in the department for HCC surveillance and managing data reporting
  • Supervising and supporting the fibroscan service in the local community diagnostic centre (Queen Mary's Hospital Roehampton) according to established guidelines

The post-holder will be expected to work autonomously with patients/service users in the St George's University Hospital sites, in the Community Diagnostic Centre at Queen Mary's Roehampton and potentially in a variety of outreach settings to provide holistic care for those tested and diagnosed with cirrhosis and viral hepatitis.

About the Role:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of clinical expertise, leadership skills and the ability to work autonomously. The successful candidate will be a qualified nurse with experience of working in a similar role and a strong understanding of liver disease and its management.

Person Specification:
  • Degree in nursing or related discipline
  • Participation in formal and informal teaching programmes specific to blood borne viruses
  • RGN - 5 years post registration experience including at least 1 year at band 6
  • Educated to masters level in a relevant subject
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification or desire to work towards it
  • Advanced assessment skills course
  • Liver related course
