Line Up Aviation is seeking an experienced Defence Electrical Engineering Lead to join our team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work with us for 6 months initially.

About the Role

The Defence Electrical Engineering Lead will be responsible for leading the design and development of electrical architectures for missiles and/or their associated launcher systems. This includes specifying system electrical requirements, defining interface characteristics between subsystems/equipment, and creating power architecture diagrams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of electrical architectures for missiles and/or their associated launcher systems
  • Specify system electrical requirements and define interface characteristics between subsystems/equipment
  • Create power architecture diagrams, including power budget and power profiles
  • Develop data communication and processing architecture designs
  • Analyze and resolve electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), bonding, grounding, and screening issues
  • Support test and fault-finding activities during compatibility checks, risk reduction, system proving/qualification, and integration
  • Review and author reports, guidelines, and processes related to electrical architecture design
  • Perform design assessments and analysis using defence/industry standards
  • Attend and support design reviews

In addition to the above responsibilities, the Defence Electrical Engineering Lead may also act as the Equipment Manager (RMO) for specific electrical/electronic equipment(s) that are part of a missile or launcher system. This involves project managing the equipment(s) on behalf of the project during development, qualification, and manufacture.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related subject, such as electrical engineering or electronics engineering
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical engineering or a related field, with a focus on defence industry standards
  • Strong understanding of electrical architecture design principles and practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to create high-quality documentation, including technical reports and design diagrams
  • Familiarity with defence industry standards, such as MoD AP 2003 and DEF STAN 00-55

We estimate the salary for this role to be around £48,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a competitive hourly rate via Umbrella, inside IR35.
