Pediatric Nurse Specialist

The Pediatric Nurse Specialist will provide high-quality care to children and families attending the children's outpatient department. This exciting role requires a registered nurse with paediatric experience to work flexibly and support multi-professional teams.

Main duties of the job:

  1. Work collaboratively with a number of teams to provide quality ambulatory care for children.
  2. Be knowledgeable and competent in clinical skills to undertake procedures such as venipuncture.
  3. Undertake pre-assessment for children having general anesthetic within a district general hospital.
  4. Lead and role model to those working within the children's outpatient department.
  5. Ensure a high standard of care is provided.
  6. Support children requiring vaccinations.
  7. Support governance in clinical care.

Person Specification:

  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing Child Branch or Registered Sick Children's Nurse, or Registered General Nurse with experience working within the paediatric setting.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working within the outpatient setting.

Skills:

  • Competent in venipuncture.

Desirable:

  • Immunisation competent.
