Job Description:

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to support students in a Secondary SEMH Alternative Provision in Solihull.

The school caters to students in Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4, many of whom have faced challenges in mainstream schools and some with Educational Health and Care Plans (EHCP).

The school provides a range of support for students with needs such as autistic spectrum disorder, Aspergers Syndrome, speech and language difficulties, and severe social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The school differentiates the curriculum to ensure all pupils can access it, using strategies like grouping, 1:1 work, teaching style, and content of the lesson.

For KS2 or KS3 pupils on short-term placements, the school offers a Nurture provision.

The position is open to experienced individuals and those with a strong background in youth work or mentoring children and young adults.

Depending on performance, the school may consider extending the contract or offering a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in a Secondary SEMH Alternative Provision
  • Work with students with a range of needs, including autistic spectrum disorder, Aspergers Syndrome, and severe social, emotional, and mental health difficulties
  • Deliver differentiated curriculum to ensure all pupils can access it
  • Work with the Nurture provision for KS2 or KS3 pupils on short-term placements

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar setting or SEMH/PRU
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training
  • Team Teach qualified or willing to attend training

Eligibility:

  • Hold a Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child-related references that cover at least the last two years
