About the Future Teachers Programme

Are you a recent graduate or final-year university student considering a career in teaching? Do you want to gain valuable classroom experience and build your skills before committing to teacher training? Our Future Teachers Programme, in partnership with secondary schools across Oldham, offers an exciting pathway into teaching.

About the Programme:

The Future Teachers Programme is designed to give you hands-on experience in the classroom while preparing you for a career in education. This is a paid role that provides a unique opportunity to work as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, or Learning Mentor, with a clear route into teacher training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting teachers in delivering engaging lessons across a variety of subjects.
  • Leading small group sessions or one-to-one interventions with students.
  • Assisting with lesson planning, classroom management, and marking.
  • Gaining experience with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and behaviour management.
  • Observing and learning from experienced teachers to develop your teaching style.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A graduate (or soon-to-be graduate) with a degree in any subject.
  • Passionate about education and considering a future in teaching.
  • Confident, proactive, and able to manage classroom behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A desire to make a positive impact on students' learning and development.
