Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Description:

Leonardo is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team at the Luton Site. The primary responsibilities of this role include designing and leading the development of Electronic Warfare products, as well as providing technical team leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong problem-solving skills and be capable of managing multiple system interdependencies within various business groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mechanical design and development using 3D CAD software
  • Deliver innovative engineering solutions within budget and timescales
  • Provide leadership on business programmes and ensure delivery of mechanical engineering solutions
  • Work in accordance with mechanical and company design lifecycles
  • Support critical technical investigations and deliver effective solutions
  • Contribute to product manufacturability through effective relationship building
  • Conduct structural analyses including hand calculations and FEA
  • Support visits and meetings at various sites and suppliers

Requirements:

  • Degree in a technical or science-related field with aerospace experience
  • Experience in problem-solving and concurrent engineering practices
  • Detailed design experience in mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge of material selection, machining, and manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to lead teams and engage with customers
  • Proficiency in CAD tools
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering approach and Project Management Fundamentals
  • Familiarity with ERP, PLM, and PDM systems
  • Chartered Engineer registration
