The appointee will be involved in fixed clinical commitments based on their clinical training needs and the service requirements of the Institute. There is an option to join the 'out of hours' specialist hepatology and endoscopy rota if suitably qualified, following a period of induction.

The successful candidate will have access to Consultant support during on-call periods and participate in the specialist hepatology rota without any commitment to acute general medicine.

About Us

The Institute of Liver Studies was established in 1966 by Professor Roger Williams and has since stood for excellence in liver clinical care and research. It provides one of the most comprehensive liver disease services in the world.

The Liver Transplant programme, Adult and Paediatric, is one of the largest (>200 cases p.a.) and most prestigious in the country, offering innovative techniques such as split liver transplants and machine perfusion.

The Liver Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) offers a comprehensive service for managing critically ill patients with liver diseases, including acute liver failure, decompensated chronic liver disease, hepatobiliary surgery, trauma, and liver transplantation.

The ward services have recently expanded to provide inpatient beds for all aspects of liver disease. Patients are admitted from local, regional, supra-regional, or international referrals, supporting a dedicated outpatient service providing daily clinics.

Key Responsibilities

The post will be based at King's College Hospital and will involve working closely with clinical, medical professional, and managerial colleagues to provide high-quality healthcare to the Trust's patients.

Requirements
  • Registrar-level training in gastroenterology and/or Hepatology (ST 6 level or above).
  • Prior involvement in research projects and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Benefits
