Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of service delivery in line with agreed timelines. This includes preparing and submitting VAT returns, EC Sales lists, and balance sheet reconciliations to a high standard and to deadline.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and submit VAT returns to a high standard in line with timetable, this includes both UK and overseas VAT returns.
  2. Prepare and submit EC Sales lists.
  3. Ensure all relevant queries are followed up in a timely manner.
  4. Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations to a high standard and to deadline.
  5. Prepare annual PSA return.
  6. Prepare and review total tax contributions for direct and indirect taxes.
  7. Assist with the preparation and submission of corporation tax and withholding tax returns.
  8. Complete detailed analysis of general ledger codes for use in the tax returns.
  9. Assist with obtaining certificates of residence from tax authorities.
  10. Prepare draft statutory accounts with clear and concise working files.
  11. Assist with the iXBRL tagging of the statutory accounts.
  12. Assist with posting, reporting and any other work associated with dormant and non-trading entities.
  13. Prepare and review National Statistic returns.
  14. Assist with the review of Assistant Accountants work as required.
  15. Assist with the daily and monthly treasury back office processes.
  16. Assist with monitoring team inboxes and responding on a timely basis including adhoc VAT, financial compliance and withholding tax queries.
  17. Assist with system testing for VAT rule changes and setting up new VAT registrations across the world.
  18. Assist with preparation of information for internal and external stakeholders on an adhoc basis.
  19. Assist with adhoc project work as required.

Requirements:

  1. Good working knowledge and understanding of Shared Service Centre processes and how these fit into the wider environment.
  2. Good understanding of all Tax & Financial Accounting best practices, people, processes and technology.
  3. Ability to manage own deadline and priorities, whilst delivering a high standard of work and supporting junior members when they require assistance.
  4. Evidence of making decisions at the right time based on the information available.
  5. Good presentation skills.
  6. Good communication skills with the ability to build good relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, internal departments and key contacts.
  7. Proficient skills in Excel, Word and Outlook are essential.
  8. Remain approachable under pressure.
  9. Work as part of a team.
  10. Ability to complete a variety of related tasks.
  11. Pro-actively solve problems.
  12. Excellent customer service skills.
  13. Good time management skills.
  14. Ability to be flexible within role.
  15. Organised, diligent with attention to detail.

Qualifications:

  1. Strong academic background, Accounting degree preferable.
  2. Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) part qualified with only a few exams left to take.
