Job Description

This role involves supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN) throughout the school day, focusing on their individual learning requirements and incorporating various senses to enhance engagement. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with SEN students, preferably in a school setting, and possess Level 2 qualifications or equivalent.

  • Supporting pupils with complex needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulty (MLD), Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and associated challenging behaviors.
  • Developing strategies to promote pupil independence, encouraging them to make informed choices and take ownership of their learning.
  • Collaborating with teaching staff to create personalized learning plans and adapting lesson content to meet individual needs.
  • Maintaining accurate records of pupil progress, using data to inform instruction and optimize support.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A minimum of Level 2 qualification in a relevant field, such as teaching assistance or youth work.
  • Previous experience working with SEN students, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • An understanding of child development theories and practices, including behavior management strategies.
