Job Title: Senior Adult Social Care Lawyer

About the Role:

The Senior Adult Social Care Lawyer will provide expert legal advice and support to the Adult Social Care team at Barnsley Council. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a double-award winning Council of the Year authority and be part of a growing legal team.

Key Responsibilities:

Deputise for the Principal Lawyer and provide training and support to the Lawyers in the team.
Provide detailed, accurate advice on the Council's responsibilities under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Health and Social Care Act 2008, Mental Health Act 1983 and associated Regulations and Statutory Guidance.
Provide legal advice and support across a broad range of areas including, ordinary residence, Data Protection and Freedom of Information, safeguarding, provider failure, section 117 aftercare, 16-17-year-old Deprivation of liberty cases.
Advise Service Managers and Directors on Adult Social Care policy and procedure.

Requirements:

Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive.
Prior experience in an adult social care law from either a private practice or a public sector setting.
