Housing Financial Specialist

Rental and Service Charge Accountant. Location: Chester (Hybrid). Estimated salary: 36,000 pounds per annum.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Hays Accountancy and Finance as a Rental and Service Charge Accountant. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for processing and delivering accurate service charge information for customers in accordance with legislation, group policy and procedures, and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- To process and deliver accurate service charge information for customers in accordance with legislation, group policy and procedures, and best practice.
- Act as first point of contact for complex queries relating to service charges and rents.
- Assist the Finance Manager with compliance work to ensure we comply with the Rent Standard.
- Support finance and non-finance colleagues in understanding service charges.
Accounting and Budgeting
You will be responsible for providing accurate service charge accounting for all service charge payers, preparing service charge budgets in line with the Association's budget setting procedure and timetable, and maintaining the housing management system for service charge recovery and refund transactions.
Databases and Compliance
You will also be responsible for maintaining a database of service charge costs for periodic service charge reviews, managing and maintaining financial information for regulatory and statutory compliance, and being responsible for fair rent database and registration.
Requirements
- AAT Qualified or qualified by experience in a similar position.
- Ability to work with large volumes of numerical data.
- Experience in the social housing sector.
- Knowledge of service charges and rent setting best practice.
