The Exeter Chamber of Commerce is seeking two seasoned business professionals to join its Board as Non-Executive Directors. As a key member of the Board, you will play a vital role in shaping the Chamber's strategic direction and representing the interests of its diverse member base.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the Chair and Vice Chairs in ensuring the highest standards of governance are applied to managing the Chamber's activities and representing member interests.
- Collaborate with the Finance Director to ensure appropriate financial oversight and delivery of services within the agreed Business Plan.
- Act as an ambassador for the Exeter Chamber Board, representing the Board at events and with member interactions.
- Ensure the Board retains a focus on delivering to member requirements, meeting Chamber commitments, and acting as a business campaigning voice on key issues.
- Support membership recruitment through introductions to potential member organizations and individuals.
- Attend Chamber Board meetings (currently 11 per annum) - held on the 2nd Thursday of each month, 10:00 - 11:30am.
- Participate in sub-groups of the Board as required, attending relevant meetings.
- Attend the Chamber's Annual General Meeting.
- Attend a minimum of two Chamber networking events per annum as a Chamber 'Ambassador'.
- A sector specialist with experience from the Property (Agency) or Academia/Higher Education sectors.
- A successful senior business leader/owner with operational, functional, and strategic responsibilities.
- Genuine commitment to the Chamber network and an employee of a current member of Exeter Chamber of Commerce or Devon Chamber of Commerce.
- Excellent communication skills with strong personal and local professional networks.
- Drive, commitment, and availability to fulfill the necessary time commitments and responsibilities.
