Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a talented Corporate Debt Associate to join our expanding practice in London. As a key member of our high-performing team, you will work closely with clients and colleagues across the UK and internationally, providing expert advice on lender and borrower side work.

The Team

Our London corporate debt team is a closely-knit group of lawyers led by female partners. We collaborate with specialist teams in debt capital markets, structured finance, derivatives, asset-based lending, trade finance, real estate finance, and leveraged finance to deliver exceptional results for our clients.

What to Expect in this Role

  • You will take responsibility for drafting and negotiating finance documents, managing transaction processes, and supervising less experienced colleagues.
  • Fostering and growing client relationships is a critical aspect of this role, and you will be expected to develop new relationships and maintain existing ones.
  • As a Corporate Debt Associate, you will be expected to possess strong technical expertise and a client-focused approach. This includes being curious about the borrower's industry and business, thinking creatively about how to improve the overall service, and staying up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
  • Continuous self-development is valued, and you will be encouraged to engage with formal training programs, mentoring, coaching, and leadership development opportunities.
  • You will be expected to share your knowledge and experience with less experienced colleagues, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their roles.

Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Be a qualified lawyer with experience or interest relevant to the role.
  • Be familiar with Loan Market Association documents and English law security documents, both from the perspective of drafting and negotiating.
  • Be enthusiastic, resilient, and collaborative, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be thorough and detail-focused, with the ability to manage process, risk, and people effectively.
  • Remain calm and optimistic in time-sensitive situations or under pressure, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
